Empathy Over Promotion Wins Every time:

Have you ever questioned why you don’t get more engagement on your social posts or website?

When you repeatedly promote or make it about you and what you do, it feels like you are coming at them, like a “push”.

Instead of “pushing” get the reader to “lean-in” by framing your message from your prospect’s perspective. In other words what problem or question is their brain looking to answer?

When you get it right your message will grab their attention, reach them emotionally, and draw them in toward you. Like two people sitting at a table having a discussion. When the person doing the listing is interested in what is being said they “lean-in” because they want more.

And when people are emotionally invested they’ll be more likely to move toward you. A.K.A. Take action, like responding to a post or contacting you for help because you clearly understand their problem.

Adapt this framework for your next message so you go from wondering to relishing.

EXAMPLE OF A MESSAGE REFRAME:

If you run an interior plantscaping company for example, rather than promoting or listing features and benefits, think about it in terms of the problem your prospect is trying to solve. It’s as simple as starting your message with the problem, as follows.

Instead of this:
Celebrate the holidays with our festive arrangements and custom décor. We provide services for any style, bringing seasonal charm to your home or business. (No empathy, just promotion)

Do this:
Is the busyness of the holiday season leaving you stressed and wondering how in the world you’re going to pull off the holiday decor on time and on budget? (Problem + Empathy no promotion)

If so, it’s because you are likely trying to do it all yourself. And we get it. (More Empathy)

This year make it easy on yourself. (It’s about them)

We’ll help you stay cool and collective this season with professional Holiday Decor that dazzles, delivered on time and on budget. (The Answer to their problem is YOU)

So, you never have to stress again. (Transformation, the problem is eliminated)

Now you’ve tapped their emotion and made them feel understood. So, when everyone else sounds like promotion instead of empathy, you’ll be the first company they call.
